On February 7, 2018, Ambassador of Ukraine Mykhailo F. Brodovych held a meeting with Director of the Historical Institute of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences Dr. Petra Svoljšak, who is the head of the Slovenian part of the Joint Ukrainian-Slovenian Commission for the Study of the historical facts of the First World War. The Commission was initiated in the framework of the official visit of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to Slovenia on November 8, 2016.
During the meeting it was discussed the holding of next meeting of the Commission, which was pre-scheduled for April of this year. The parties also expressed their mutual interest in activization of work on the way to erection of monument for the Ukrainians who died during the First World War on the territory of Slovenia. It will become a good instrument in fight against the Russian propaganda and misinformation about the fact that not only Russians fought as a part of imperial army, but there were many representatives of different nationalities, especially Ukrainians.
