On 14 March 2012 Honorary Consulate of Ukraine, headed by Honorary Consul Sandi Brezovnik, was officially opened in Kranj. The opening ceremony was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Republic of Slovenia.
H.E. Mykola Kyrychenko, Ambassador of Ukraine, Mr. Marjan Cencen, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia, other high representatives of the Ministry, mayors of other Slovenian cities, representatives of Ukrainian and Slovenian regions, honorary consuls of other countries in Slovenia, the Ukrainian diaspora, Slovenian public and media representatives attended the event.

In his speech the Ambassador said that the opening of the Honorary Consulate is an important event in bilateral relations between two countries. The openinig of the Honorary Consulate in Kranj would facilitate the protection of the rights and interests of citizens of Ukraine, living in Slovenia, as well as to deepen bilateral trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, underlined Mr.Kyrychenko.
The consular district of the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine includes 69 municipalities of Slovenia.
