26 October 2025 20:06

The event was organized with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Slovenia in partnership with the Slovenian Government Communication Office and the Centre for European Perspective (CEP). The host was the European Commission Representation in Ljubljana.
The event was designed for specialists in communications, fact-checking, public servants, and Slovenian journalists, and it attracted significant attention from leading Slovenian institutions in this field. A group of Slovenian students from the University of Ljubljana also attended the event. The audience also included high-ranking representatives from the Slovenian Ministry of Defence and security services.
Opening the event, Ambassador of Ukraine Petro Beshta noted that Russian disinformation is a weapon, just like "Kinzhal" and "Kalibr" missiles. Therefore, such an event is extremely important for the joint fight against hybrid threats.
The key speakers at the event were:
Mr. Mykhaylo Dankanych, an expert on countering disinformation.
Mr. Yevheniy Malik, a Ukrainian serviceman, former prisoner of war, who went through the hell of Russian captivity.
The speech by Mr. Yevheniy Malik drew special attention, as he shared part of his terrible experience in Russian captivity and spoke about the information pressure exerted on everyone who falls into their hands.
Participants also discussed key topics, including Russian disinformation in the Western Balkans, the weaponization of information, and joint strategies to identify and debunk disinformation campaigns.
We thank all partners and participants for the fruitful discussion and for uniting efforts to strengthen our collective resilience!
