Today, in the premises of the House of the European Union in Ljubljana, a training on countering russian disinformation and propaganda in the countries of the Central European region, which was conducted by the well-known Ukrainian organization Stopfake.org Ukraine with the assistance of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Slovenia was held.

The event was attended by foreign ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Slovenia, representatives of the Slovenian media, Slovenian political and public figures, and activists of the Ukrainian community in Slovenia and Croatia.

The event was opened by the opening speech of the Ambassador of Ukraine to Slovenia Andrii Taran, who emphasized the relevance of the topic of the event given the significant number of russian cyber and information attacks on Slovenian information resources that took place in recent weeks.

"russia is trying to undermine the unity of the EU from the inside, using social networks, messengers, and technologies based on artificial intelligence. These threats require our unified and joint response, and Ukraine has unique experience in countering these threats" - emphasized the Ambassador of Ukraine.

During the two-hour training, the basic principles of fact-checking, such as strategies for preventing information threats, markers of information threats and their analysis techniques, were discussed in detail, as well as the importance of digital technologies and social platforms in the fight against disinformation, in particular information verification tools based on artificial intelligence (photo analysis and video). 

Attention was paid to the most relevant cases regarding the influence of Russian propaganda and disinformation that took place in Slovenia.

During the discussion that took place after the lecture part of the event, representatives of the Stopfake.org Ukraine organization answered the questions of the guests about the most effective methods of detecting fake news, methods of combating russian narratives in the media, as well as about the importance of technologies based on artificial intelligence for countering russian propaganda.
