On 18th of August, 2023 the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Slovenia has organized the Cultural event dedicated to the Independence Days of Ukraine. This event took place in the city of Kranj with the support of the Mayor of Kranj and with the participation of the diplomatic corp, representatives of Slovenian government, political and cultural spheres of Slovenia.
The event started with the national anthems of Ukraine and the Republic of Slovenia/ the Mayor of Kranj Mr. M.Rakovec, State Secretary of the Office of Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia A.Benedejcic Nastop_v_Kranju_-_18.8.2023.pdf addressed to the participants, expressing support and solidarity with Ukraine, strengthening the common cultural and mental values of Ukrainian and Slovenian people. It was also stressed that the position of Slovenia concerning the support of Ukraine remains strong and that Slovenia is thankful for Ukraine's aid to Slovenia because of the massive floods in the country.
Ambassador of Ukraine Andrii Taran in his address underlined the importance of the Independence Day for Ukrainians, pointed out that the russian aggression towards Ukraine is still going on, but the Ukrainian heroism remains strong.
The cultural program was held on the central square of the city.
Worldwide famous Ukrainian restaurateur and Brand/chief Dmytro Borisov held a workshop of making vareniki as well as presenting traditional and modern Ukrainian cuisine, among others borsch, vareniki, oysters and ribs.
Everybody could taste Ukrainian dishes and Ukrainian drinks. The participants could enjoy wide range of Ukrainian wines, beer, uzvar.
The concert program included different music pieces presented by the choir of Ukrainian diaspora of the city of Maribor, the choir of Ukrainian community of the city of Ljubljana, violinist Mariana Filipenko, pianist Iryna Ozerova and Hanna Konrieva, clarinet of A.Prysj, duo "Verbena", singer Iryna bondarenko, bandura of A.Shapoval, Eko Jokodo, R.Oleshko.
At the end of the event, we enjoyed the performance of the famous Ukrainian modern band "Antytila". Slovenia had an opportunity to hear such songs as "Fortetsia Bahmut", "Tam de my ye", "Bery svoye" and others.
The Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Slovenia expresses sincere gratitude to all the participants of the event, all volunteers and representatives of Ukrainian community.
