The meeting of the Heads of diplomatic missions of NATO member states took place in Ljubljana

Today, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the accession of Romania, Slovakia and Bulgaria to NATO a meeting of the Heads of diplomatic missions of NATO member states in the format of a working breakfast with the invitation of the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Slovenia Marjan Šarec as the guest of honor took place in Ljubljana.
This year, for the first time, the Ambassador of Ukraine was invited to participate in the meeting of Heads of diplomatic missions of NATO member states.
The participants discussed many challenges faced by NATO countries due to the war that russia started against Ukraine. Special attention was devoted to the discussion of the development of the security situation in Ukraine in the context of russia's ongoing full-scale war against our country.
The Minister of Defense of Slovenia characterizing the current challenges and threats to Slovenia's security, emphasized, in particular, the need to strengthen the countermeasures against russian propaganda in the Balkans, which has been significantly intensified recently, as well as the importance of continuing to support Ukraine in the fight against the russian aggressor.
The event was symbolically concluded with a speech by the Ambassador of Ukraine Andrii Taran, who expressed gratitude for the support provided to Ukraine by NATO member states, emphasized the importance of continuing support to stop russian aggression, and called for determination to make a political decision regarding the official invitation of Ukraine to the Alliance during the upcoming NATO summit in Washington. The emotional speech of the Ambassador of Ukraine caused applause from the audience.
