On February 24, 2026, the leading Slovenian newspaper "Delo" published an article by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Slovenia, Petro Beshta, on the topic: "Peace Through Strength – in Ukraine and Europe."
"For Ukraine, peace through strength is a strategy in which the end of the war is achieved not through unilateral concessions by the victim, nor through capitulation, but through the creation of such political, military, economic, technological, and legal conditions that make repeated aggression too costly for the aggressor. Through the presence of a defense potential sufficient to deter the aggressor; through the presence of sustained mutual support from partners and strong collective security commitments; through the presence of real and effective mechanisms for accountability for aggression, war crimes, and inflicted damage.
Peace through strength is a peace that is sustainable, based on international law, with effective mechanisms for its compliance and the prevention of a recurrence of aggression. I must emphasize: only with effective mechanisms that have proven their efficiency in the new realities. Declarations will not ensure peace." — Petro Beshta, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Slovenia.
