Today, February 23, 2024, on the eve of the second year since the beggining of the full-scale russia's war against Ukraine, an official ceremony of the raising of the State Flag of Ukraine and commemoration of the memory of the victims of russian aggression was held on the territory of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia.
To this sad date, the Government of Slovenia expressed its solidarity and unwavering support for Ukraine, commemorating the memory of the victims of russian aggression. Also, the symbol of Ukrainian struggle and indomitability - the State Flag of Ukraine - was raised on the main flagpole of the MFEA of Slovenia.
Slovenian high-ranking officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in the Republic of Slovenia, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia, representatives of the Office of the President and the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, journalists of the leading Slovenian media were invited to the event.
The event began with the ceremony of raising the State Flag of Ukraine and a moment of silence in memory of the victims of russia's war against Ukraine.
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, H.E. Mrs. Nataša Pirc Musar, addressed the audience with a speech, emphasizing that Slovenia remains in solidarity with Ukraine and will continue to provide further assistance, particularly in the field of psychosocial assistance to women and children, rehabilitation and demining of territories.
The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, H.E. Mrs. Tanja Fajon, who is currently in New York, at the UN headquarters, also addressed the guests in the format of a video address. The Minister condemned the murders of Ukrainian civilians, russia's deliberate destruction of civil facilities and critical infrastructure, expressed unwavering support for Ukraine and its people, and assured Slovenia of further support.
Ambassador of Ukraine H.E. Mr. Andrii Taran addressed the audience with a speech, who emphasized that Ukrainians were able to withstand the years of war, but, unfortunately, the war was not over.
"We call on all our friends and partners not to stop their efforts, supporting our srtuggle against russian aggression, the struggle for democracy, the struggle for freedom " - said the Ambassador of Ukraine.
