On March 20, 2025, a meeting took place between the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Slovenia, H.E. Mr. Petro Beshta, and the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, H.E. Mrs. Tanja Fajon.
During the meeting, the parties discussed various aspects of further developing Ukrainian-Slovenian relations, including the expansion of political dialogue, economic cooperation, and humanitarian interaction. They also addressed the current situation in Ukraine considering the ongoing full-scale war of aggression by Russia.
Minister Tanja Fajon reaffirmed Slovenia’s unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and emphasized the importance of continued international support for Ukraine’s recovery. She acknowledged the active work of the Embassy of Ukraine in strengthening bilateral relations and expressed her commitment to deepening cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Fajon also expressed her support for international efforts to achieve a just peace and stressed the need for the international community, particularly European partners, to consolidate efforts to end Russia’s aggression.
Ambassador Petro Beshta, in turn, expressed gratitude to Slovenia for its military, financial, and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, as well as for the solidarity of the Slovenian people with Ukrainians. He underscored the importance of continuing joint projects aimed at supporting Ukraine during this challenging period.
The parties agreed to maintain regular dialogue and promote the implementation of new initiatives within the framework of bilateral cooperation. Special attention was given to cooperation within international organizations, including the UN, the EU, and other multilateral platforms, to enhance global support for Ukraine.
