On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, a special screening of the Polish film Ljudje (People) took place at the Kinofilm cinema hall of the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film, and Television in Slovenia.
This is the first Polish feature film about Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, created by professionals and students of Warszawska Szkoła Filmowa.
The film tells the story of five women fighting for survival in the brutal realities of war, deeply impacting viewers with its documentary-style aesthetics, strong emotional narrative, and realistic depiction of events. The screening, with English subtitles, was dedicated to the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion.

Before the screening, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Slovenia, Petro Beshta, addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of such events for international support of Ukraine and the role of cinema in conveying the truth about the war.
After the screening, a discussion took place with Ukrainian actress Rimma Tyshkevych, who shared her experience working on the film and highlighted the significance of art during wartime. The conversation was moderated by Lev Predan Kowarski, who helped deepen the reflection on the role of cinema in documenting war crimes.

The event left a profound emotional impact on the audience, particularly Slovenians, who noted the shocking realism of the film and stressed that such stories are a horrifying yet true part of contemporary Europe.
Members of the Ukrainian community, diplomatic corps, and academic circles attended the screening.

We sincerely thank our Polish friends for their initiative and organization of the screening, as well as all the guests who, with their presence, expressed solidarity with Ukraine and respect for artistic testimony about the war.
