On March 10, 2024, in the Slovenian city of Shtaniel, Ukrainians and Slovenian friends of Ukraine honored the memory and work of an outstanding Ukrainian poet, thinker, novelist and painter, a symbol of Ukrainian culture Taras Shevchenko.

The event began with a ceremony of laying flowers on the bust of Taras Shevchenko and the translator of his works into Slovenian Jože Abram by the second secretary of the diplomat of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Slovenia Bogdan Toroptsev, together with the head of the Ukrainian cultural society "Ljubljana-Kyiv" Adrij Hevka, the mayor of Komen municipality Erik Modik and a representative of the family of the Slovenian translator J. Abram, Vojko Markocic.

This year, neither cool weather not even rain not interfere the representatives of the international Ukrainian union "Alps-Adria", the Ukrainian community in Slovenia, the Ukrainian community in Italy, the Ukrainian community in Croatia, temporarily displaced citizens of Ukraine who are in the territory of Slovenia, and Slovenian friends of Ukraine from various cities of Slovenia to participate in the event and honor the Ukrainian symbol of the struggle for Freedom and Independence.

The event was continued with a cultural program prepared by the Ukrainian-Slovenian collective "Verbena", the choir of the Ukrainian community of Ljubljana "Tree of Freedoml" together with the musician Mykhaylo Sheyko.

The participants of the event jointly performed the National Anthem of Ukraine, the well-known song "Oh, in the meadow is a red viburnum", the Ukrainian folk song "Hey, falcons" and shared their thoughts on the significance of T. Shevchenko's work in this difficult time for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people of Russian aggression.

Traditionally, the event was organized by Slovensko-ukrajinsko kulturno društvo Ljubljana Kyjivv and Andrij Hevka
